Innovative Design

The exterior design of the BMW X4 sets a whole new benchmark in terms of style and elegance. Engine, Transmission, and Performance

The base BMW X4 xDrive30i gets its motivation from a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that is capable of producing 258 lbs-ft of Torque. The model made a respectable 6.1 second sprint from zero to 60 mph. The X4 M40i is an ideal fit if you’re in the market for a more powerful vehicle. This model is powered by a 3.0-liter six- cylinder engine that produces 382 horsepower and 365 lbs. of Torque. BMW’s X4 M40i sprints from zero to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds, and its engine note is as impressive as its speed. Launch control is standard. Both trims come with an automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels. You’ll be treated to an SUV that matches keen handling with a ride quality that’s easy to live with, regardless of which X4 you choose.

The EPA estimates that the 2021 X4 xDrive 30i achieves mileage of 23/29 mpg city/highway. That’s an improvement on the fuel economy offered by rivals such as the Mercedes-Benz GLC300 coupe (up to 22/28 mpg). In our tests, we observed highway fuel economy of 33 mpg. With the X4 M40i, estimated EPA fuel economy stands at 21/27 mpg. We were able to achieve real-world fuel economy of 28 mpg on the highway during our time with the SUV. – Car and Driver

While its exterior is distinctive, the X4’s interior is BMW-familiar with its horizontally-aligned dash and controls, brushed aluminum accents, center-mounted color display and jet-fighter-style gear selector. Most controls are intuitive, except for the switch for the optional heated steering wheel that is tucked low in the steering column. Somewhat surprisingly, the rear seat can accommodate three in relative comfort, although legroom isn’t as good as in the BMW X3. The 40/20/40-folding split rear seat helps customize the cargo area’s shape, and when all three sections are folded it expands capacity from 17.7 cubic feet to 49.4.
